When you build your demand line by line, suppliers price every single row — which also makes the offers far easier to compare. This page explains the fields on the Products step, the export information and how to attach files.
When does the Products step appear?
The first step of the New Demand wizard asks How do you want to collect the demand? If you tick Itemised product list here, a Products step is added to the step bar and the first empty product row opens automatically.
If you choose General request, the Products step never appears — that is normal. In that case you describe what you need in the Description field and in the Notes for suppliers field on the Options step; the supplier then prepares its own offer accordingly.
Adding line items and required fields
On the Products step, use the + Add product button to add as many rows as you need. Each row has the following fields:
- Product name — required.
- Product code — optional; your own stock or order code.
- Quantity — required, must be greater than zero.
- Unit — required, picked from a list.
- Description — optional; details such as thickness or surface finish (e.g. "2cm, polished finish").
If Product name, Quantity or Unit is missing on any row, the Continue button at the bottom of the page stays disabled; you cannot move on to the next step until you have filled in what is missing.
Units are picked from a list, not typed
The Unit field is not free text. Clicking it opens a list of international standard units of measure: square metre, cubic metre, kilogram, tonne, metre, linear metre, piece, pair, set, pack, box, carton, pallet, sheet, container and more. You can search using the Search units (e.g. square metre, kg, piece)… box at the top of the list; it matches both the unit name and its abbreviation (kg, m², t).
Newly opened rows come with Square metre pre-selected; you are free to change it. The reason you pick the unit from a list is simple: suppliers in different countries all read the same unit the same way, and spelling variations such as "m2 / square metre / sqm" cannot distort the offers.
Export information (HS code, origin, brand)
Below every product row there is an Enter export info button. It opens the Export information dialog, which contains three fields:
- GTIP / HS Code — the customs tariff statistics position (e.g. 6802.91).
- Origin — where the goods were produced or quarried (e.g. Italy, Carrara).
- Brand — if you have a preferred brand.
All three are optional. Filling them in helps the supplier price customs duty and freight correctly, which is why we recommend completing them on demands that involve export or import.
When you click Save, the details are written onto the product row and shown there as a one-line summary. If you click Cancel, nothing is applied. If you entered nothing at all, the row reads "No export info entered".
Product images and documents
Below every product row there are two separate upload areas:
- Product images — PNG, JPG or WEBP files.
- Product documents — PDF files. This area is a Pro feature; on the Free plan a (Pro) marker appears next to the label and no upload is possible. If you try, you get the warning "Attaching documents is a Pro feature. On the Free plan you can only attach images."
You can drag and drop a file onto the area, or click it and pick the file from your computer. Every uploaded file appears as a small card; you can drag a card to change its order, or remove it with the bin icon that appears when you hover over it.
How many attachments you can upload and the size limit per file depend on your plan. The counter above the upload area always shows this: if it reads 2 / 3, for example, you have used two of your three attachments. Once you reach the limit, the Add tile disappears. If you select more files at once than you have left, the warning "You have reached the attachment limit on this plan. Upgrade to Pro for more." appears. If you pick an unsupported file type you see a Rejected (type) badge, and a file that is too large for your plan gets a Too large badge — and that file is not added to the list.
Deleting a line item
The × button in the top-right corner of a product row (Remove for screen readers) takes that line item out. A confirmation dialog "Remove product?" opens first and warns "This product and everything you entered for it will be removed from the demand." If you click Remove, the row and everything in it — export fields and uploaded images included — are removed; if you click Cancel, nothing changes.
